Day Camp FAQs

• Our Summer Day Camp programs are designed for children aged 4-12.
• Campers should enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities, be able to cooperate with others, and thrive in a group setting.
• Activities include games, sports, arts & crafts, swimming, field trips, and more—all supervised by our trained staff.
• Ideal for campers who enjoy physical activity and spending time outdoors.
• Please note:
  • Campers must be fully potty trained.
  • Campers must be at least four years old by the start of the camp session.
• We are unable to accommodate campers who require assistance with feeding, toileting, or changing clothes.

• Yes, we have a full eight-week calendar for each age group.
• The schedule includes field trips, activities, on-campus vendor visits, and other fun events.
• Campers will enjoy a variety of activities:
•  Arts, sports, games, playtime, and swimming (for those who are comfortable).
• Alternative activities will be provided for those who prefer not to participate in certain activities.
• The schedule also includes a time-block for each activity, including lunch and pool time.
• Campers can visit the student center snack store daily. Snacks range from $.50 to $3.00, with a limit of two candy items per day.
• Campers do not need to bring money for snacks, but you may send cash if you’d like.

• Our Summer Day Camp and Club MVA programs run for eight weeks June 1 -July 24, 2026.
• You can register for specific weeks that work for your schedule.
• Registration fee includes all activities, lunch, field trip costs/on campus entertainment, and a camper t-shirt.

Camp Hours:

• Before Care: 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. ($25 per week)
• Regular Drop-off: 8:30 - 8:45 a.m.
• Camp Hours: 9 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
• Regular Pickup: 3:45 - 4:00 p.m.
• After Care: 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. ($35 per week)

Before & After Care Bundle:

• Combined cost: $50 per week.

Late Pickup Fees:

• Late fee from 5:30 - 5:40 p.m.: $20 per child
• $1 per minute, per child, in addition to the $20 late fee starting at 5:41p.m.

• Please refer to our packing list for everything your camper will need.
• Campers will receive a Montverde Academy camp T-shirt on the first day, which they must wear on field trip days.
• Lunch & Snacks: 
  • Campers may bring their own lunch and extra snacks.
  • Camp provides one snack a day.
  • If your child has food allergies, please let us know in advance by emailing summerprograms@montverde.org.

• The Summer Programs team will send an email to all families on May 1 with information regarding the packing list, pick-up/drop-off details, and other important information for the summer.

Parents will receive welcome emails the week before your registered session of camp. The email will have a description of what to expect for the week, field trip schedules, activities planned for the week, dress-up days, welcome packet, map, and any other important information regarding that week.  

Camp directors may reach out to you by phone if a quick response is needed, such as a question regarding a field trip.

• Nurses/Camp Directors may call if a child is feeling unwell, expressing cold/flu like symptoms, injuries, or if an incident has occurred.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying or harassment of any kind.

• Campers are expected to:
• Treat each other, staff, and property with respect.
• Follow rules and guidelines to maintain a positive camp experience.
• If a camper exhibits disruptive or inappropriate behavior, our Camp Director will:
• Assess the situation and determine the next steps.
• Possible outcomes include warning, behavior modification, or removal from the camp.
• Severe behaviors such as bullying, violence, or repeated disruptions may result in immediate dismissal from the program, with no refund.

• In case of an injury or illness, we will contact you and any emergency contacts listed in your camper’s profile.
• If a camper shows symptoms (fever, cough, etc.), we will ask them to go home, and you’ll be notified to pick them up.
• Please keep your camper home if they have a fever to prevent spreading illness.
• Campers must be fever-free and vomit-free for 24 hours.
• Refund or return to camp will be addressed on case by case basis.

• Camper may move to another session of day camp if space permits at no additional fee.

• Camper registration fees are not refunded within 14 days of cancelling a camp session, missed days, or change in plans.
• There is no refund given within 14 days of cancelling the camp
• Full Refund Exception: A full refund will be issued if a camp is canceled due to minimum enrollment not being met and will go back to the original card on file or the family can choose to move that balance to another camp session. If there are additional costs those will be added.

• Partial Refunds: After the initial 24-hour registration period, deposits are non-refundable. A full refund minus the deposit will be approved prior to May 1st, 2026. There is a 50% refund (minus the deposit) if you cancel after May 1st, 2026, and at least 15 days ahead of the camp sessions. 

• Extreme weather
  If campus is closed due to extreme weather, parents/ guardians will be notified via email. Parents/guardians that make the decision to not attend when campus is open will not be refunded or credited.

Refund requests should be emailed to summerprograms@montverde.org with the subject line "Refund Request."

• Refund Requests
  If your family experiences family emergency and your child(ren) can no longer attend you may submit a refund request to summerprograms@montverde.org with the Subject Line “Refund Request.” Please include any documentation that may be needed for a refund.
  If you’d like to switch to another session or different camp and/or move your summer credit to summer 2027 please include that in your email.

• All MVA Summer Day Camp staff are CPR certified and trained. Day Camp staff have training prior to summer camp and are prepared to handle camper situations. 
• All Lifeguards are American Red Cross Lifeguard certified and trained. Pool rules are taken very seriously, and multiple lifeguards and staff watchers oversee pool time.  
• If a camper gets injured while at camp a camp staff member and/or the Nurse will call home to alert the parents and go through next steps. In some incidents campers may be required to go home.

• Session specific field trips occur every week and are included in the camper registration fee.
• Campers will be transported by Montverde Academy buses and by Montverde Academy Employees. Our drivers are certified CDL drivers.
• MVA Camp Counselors monitor campers during field trips. MVA does not bring parent volunteers on field trips and we ask that you do not meet your camper at the field trip destination due to safety protocols.
• Campers are not required to attend the field trip and may stay back with other campers and participate in regular activities.
• There is no pool on field trip days unless your camper stays behind.
• A cold lunch will be provided on full day field trips, however your child may pack their own lunch.

• How do kids get grouped?
  Groups are based on campers’ ages. Different groups do not have different benefits or qualities. Older age groups may have different age-appropriate activities compared to a group with four-year-olds. 
  Groups with close age ranges, for example 6&7 year olds will participate together on certain activities, such as group games, pool times etc.
  Montverde Academy Summer Day camp follows the American Camp Association (ACA) Ratio Guidelines when dividing campers into groups.
   
• What is the ACA Ratio Guideline:
  Ages 4-5: 1 counselor to 6 campers
  Ages 6-8: 1 counselor to 8 campers
  Ages 9-12: 1 counselor to 10 campers

If we have a high volume of a certain age, the summer programs team will create multiple groups of the same age. Or if we have a lower volume we may combine groups as long as they are in the same ratio bracket.

• Buddy Requests for Day Camp
  Buddy requests can be made up to 1 week prior to the start of the session as long as the campers are in the same ratio bracket.
  Please email your request to Summerprograms@montverde.org with the Subject Line “Buddy Request” and the name of the other camper.
   

• What if my kids or their friends are in separate groups 
  If two kids are in separate groups, it does not mean they will not get to play with or see each other throughout the day. 
  As long as both campers are the same age a request may be made prior to the week starting for your camper to be moved into their group if ACA Ratio Guideline requirement is met. 
  Older campers can be moved down one age group if a change is necessary. An older camper change to a younger aged group will be determined by both the parent and the camp directors.
  Younger Campers will not be approved to move to older aged groups if they are out of the ACA ratio bracket. Refunds are not given if a camper cannot move to an older age group.

  Group changes cannot be made after the Monday of the week of camp participating in.  

• Each camper group will have one junior and one senior counselor assigned to them.

• Counselors will rotate throughout the summer to different groups based on camper and staffing needs. We cannot guarantee that your camper(s) will have the same counselor for the entire summer.
• Campers will still see counselors throughout the day and can interact with them when camp is all together. All groups have a senior and junior counselor assigned to them. Additional MVA student volunteers or Counselors in Training are also assigned to groups.
• Counselors in Training or CIT’s are a vital part of our summer program. The CITs are learning what it takes to be a counselor and may be assigned to your campers group. CITs assist counselors and play games with campers. CITs that have a younger sibling in the day camp program will be separated.
