STEM education is more important than ever for our students to succeed in college and beyond. That's why we're gearing up to expand the Jorn M. Kreke Science Building in the summer of 2018 by adding two additional state-of-the-art science labs. We can't do this without YOU - your gift matters and no amount is too small!
Addition to the Student Center
In the fall of 2017, 2,500 square-feet of space was added to our Duncan Student Center. The space was renovated to include more room for our increasing student population and now includes more lounging space with the addition of the Newlin Recreational Lounge. The new additions to the Duncan Student Center were only possible through the generous contributions of our donors.
The Beach Volleyball Complex
Over 1,700 tons of sand were used to complete the Academy’s NCAA/FIUB approved beach volleyball complex project – the playing surface of each court is 18 inches deep! The four new beach volleyball courts provide the unique opportunity for Montverde Academy high-school volleyball players to receive NCAA scholarships for either indoor or outdoor university beach volleyball programs. Before this school year, no other coeducational independent private high school in the United States had ever initiated a funding campaign to support this ever-growing sport. Volleyball continues to be on of the most watched sports in the Olympics, and we are proud to foster and promote this growing sport.
The MacKenzie Upper-School Building
Montverde Academy’s Upper-School classroom building, a $4 million project financed by our alumni, parents, and benefactors, was completed in early September 2015. The building is approximately 36,000 square feet, and its facade creatively mirrors that of the original MacKenzie Building. It features 26 classrooms, additional educational programming space, and scholastic features intended to improve student learning and access to modern technology.
George H. Rast Library Remodel
The remodeling of the George H. Rast Library was done over the summer of 2015 to allow for improved study areas and study rooms, as well as easier access to new academic books and literature. In addition, the renovated George H. Rast Library assists Montverde Academy teachers and provides more avenues for technologically collaborative lessons for students.
The maintenance facility was erected during the beginning of the 2014-15 school year. The facility is located behind the Henry Roberts Gymnasium.
The new maintenance facility offers an abundance of storage and workroom space and allows for better and more secure housing of Montverde Academy tractors, mowers, and various grounds equipment. The maintenance staff offices are also located within.
The Aquatics Center project was completed in the spring of 2014. The pool is located to the right on the grounds facing the Montverde Academy Center for Sportsmanship and Wellness (“The Nest”) and was constructed to train the varsity boys and girls swim teams for their on-campus training and future swim meet competitions. The facility is 62 feet wide by 84 feet long; four feet deep in the middle and six feet deep on each end.
Center for Sportsmanship and Wellness (the Nest)
The Montverde Academy Center for Sportsmanship and Wellness, located next to the Henry O. Roberts Gymnasium and William O. McQuaig buildings (across from the tennis courts and baseball complex). This innovative six-million dollar athletic facility opened in 2012. The 44,000 square-foot athletic building features a modern-day basketball court designed for an audience of 1,500, two additional practice basketball courts, two volleyball courts, and a 4,400 square-foot fitness center equipped with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, showers, and locker rooms.
Sandra O. Stephens Media Arts Building
The Sandra O. Stephens Media Arts Building is a 12,000 square foot addition to our fine arts program that has significantly benefited the Academy. The first floor of the building hosts the instrumental music hall, private rehearsal rooms, storage areas for music, uniforms and instruments, restrooms, a faculty workroom and a computer laboratory for our media arts program. The second floor houses the vocal music rehearsal hall, private rehearsal rooms, a listening laboratory, a piano lab and classroom, and a modern video recording studio for our video production classes.
Our state-of-the-art Athletic Complex is a beautiful addition to our ever-growing campus. This facility has enabled the Academy to host track and field tournaments, as well as varsity and junior varsity softball. The Francisco Lindor Baseball Field was dedicated in 2013, with the MVA alumn in attendance. The complex is home to our No.1 boy’s varsity soccer team. The team has achieved amazing results with Coach Mike Potempa ushering the Eagles into six straight undefeated seasons.
