It is with deep sadness and regret that we share the news of the passing of Daniel Mills, a Montverde Academy student, who tragically passed away in a boating accident on Sunday, May 31.
Daniel began at Montverde Academy as a Lower School student and would have entered his junior year in the fall. He was an avid Theatre Conservatory student, who had counted performing in “Mamma Mia” as his 10th show and fourth show as part of the production team. He earned a leading role in 2019-20 season’s production of the “Hunchback of Notre Dame,” was Rapunzel’s Prince in the 2018 production of “Into the Woods,” and performed as Arpad alongside his sister, Maya (’20), in the 2018 production of “She Loves Me.” He was also an avid singer who participated in the Choral Cabaret productions and had earned many nominations and awards for his theatre participation. Daniel was a very fine student, gentleman and talented actor and singer who was well-liked by his peers and theatre “family.” His memory will live strongly at Montverde Academy – his voice pervasive in the walls of the theatre and his many characters etched in memories. His sense of humor and joy for life will be treasured by those privileged to have known him.
The Montverde Academy community offers our deepest sympathy to the Mills family, who have been extremely active in the MVA community with Harold and Rosy being dedicated supporters of MVA’s Fine Arts and Athletic programs and great cheerleaders of their children, Vanessa (’19), Maya (’20) and Daniel.
A viewing will be held at 10:30 a.m. on June 6 immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:30 at Orlando First Baptist. The family has respectfully asked for privacy during this time of grieving.
As Daniel was such an integral member of the Theatre Conservatory program and school community, MVA’s wellness team, headed by Mrs. Kimberly Brauman, is available by contacting her at email@example.com to assist any Montverde Academy students seeking counseling.
