Class of 2020 Donates Bicycles to Lake County Sheriff’s Office

An annual tradition for the senior class at Montverde Academy is the Senior Retreat which is comprised of team building and memory-making activities. One of those activities is working as a team to decipher instructions and assemble children’s bicycles to be donated to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The bicycles were presented by Dr. Kasey C. Kesselring, Montverde Academy Headmaster, and the Class of 2020 to Sheriff Peyton Grinnell of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at MVA’s Upper School assembly on December 4.
“The bicycle race was a highlight of our Senior Retreat, and being able to donate those bicycles to children in need makes it an even more meaningful for the students,” said Dr. Kesselring. “It was a great team building exercise that had students, who didn’t know each other well, working together to properly and safely assemble the bikes. We are proud to donate these bikes to Sheriff’s Office to make Christmas special for local children in need.”
“We are very grateful for our continued partnership with the students, faculty and staff at Montverde Academy on this ongoing event,” said Sheriff Peyton C. Grinnell. “These bicycles will be used in our Shop with a Cop™ program that provides Lake County children with the chance to shop with a deputy sheriff or officer for Christmas gifts. Receiving a bicycle will most certainly bring smiles to their faces."
