Are You Ready for Some Basketball?!?!

The Purple & Gold game featuring Varsity and CBD National basketball players facing off in an exhibition match kicked-off the MVA Eagles Basketball season! The evening started with BBQ provided by Mr. Willy’s BBQ followed by a meet and greet with the varsity basketball players. The team posed for photos with fans of all ages.
The MVA Choir performed a stirring arrangement of the National Anthem to open the game, and Moses Moody, senior varsity basketball player, shared a heartfelt welcome and thank you to the faculty and staff who attended. MVA’s very own brand-new Pom Squad made their debut entertaining the audience with a number of routines throughout the game, and Monty the Eagle encouraged MVA spirit all night, as he posed for pictures, high-fived fans and kept the energy level high.
While the game was a competitive inner squad exhibition game that displayed our talented basketball players, a highlight of evening was the dunk contest that featured basketball players Lachlan Bofinger, Sam Davidson, Zeb Jackson, Dariq Whitehead, Day’ron Sharpe, and special dunker, SIMA player, Mamadou Fall, who brought his A game to the court! All the student-athletes performed high-flying dunking skills! Day’ron nailed an under the leg to slam dunk in the final round to which Zeb obtained special permission, and a very brave Moses Moody, to execute a leap over 6’5” Moses for a full-on slam dunk to take home the trophy.
Don’t miss the preseason games Friday and Saturday night with home games against Mater Academy and NFEI at 7:30 p.m. in The EdgeCenter. See you there!
