MVA Breaks Ground for New Middle School Building

Ground has been broken for the new Middle School on the Montverde Academy campus. Dr. Kasey C. Kesselring, Headmaster, and the Board of Trustees at Montverde Academy broke ground on a new 40,000-square-foot Middle School facility. This $5 million expansion is expected to be complete by January 2021 and will provide the Academy with large modern classrooms, science and technology labs and a 12,000-square-foot gymnasium dedicated to Middle School physical education classes, assemblies, club activities, and events.

The building, once completed, is the result of a solid commitment of philanthropy by the Montverde Academy community, which includes parents, alumni, faculty and staff, friends of the academy, and business partners. Designing and constructing a new Middle School building has been a multi-year project that South Lake businesses Schmid Construction, Powell Studio Architecture and Germana Engineering & Associates, all, who have played critical roles in the process.

Montverde Academy has worked with Schmid Construction on projects for the past ten years on the construction of buildings to include the The EdgeCenter for Sportsmanship & Wellness, the Media and Performing Arts Building and the addition on the Jörn Kreke Science Building. Powell Studio Architecture has been a business partner of the Academy for the past seven years and instrumental in developing a ten-year master plan. Germana Engineering & Associates has worked on projects for the past five years.

“We are thrilled to be breaking ground on this project, which has been made possible through the support of many in our community,” said Dr. Kasey C. Kesselring, Headmaster, Montverde Academy. “The construction of this building is vital to ensure our Middle School students have the best facility possible to adequately prepare and equip them for future success.”
