MVA is happy to congratulate Nicky Riscica, MVA freshman, who qualified for the State Golf Tournament and had a great first showing. It is extremely difficult to qualify for State, and he did it as a freshman. Nicky finished in the middle of the 100 golfers competing in the event.
At the State Finals, Nicky shot an 86 in the first round, and scored even better in the second round with an 82. The tournament was hosted on Mission Inn’s El Campeon Course, a difficult course so challenging, that only two of the athletes finished under par.
Neil Barnhill, varsity golf coach, was very pleased at the effort from his talented athlete. “Congratulations to Nicky Riscica for having a great season and making it to the State Finals!” said Coach Barnhill. “I’m so proud of how Nicky represented MVA. He showed great sportsmanship, etiquette, effort, and character, and has really become a player to watch. If he can do very well at the State level as a freshman, imagine how good he will be as a senior! He is a gifted golfer and an awesome young man!”
