Mr. Jack Kuk Remembered

It is with sadness that we share that Mr. John “Jack” Kuk has passed away. Mr. Kuk, originally from Indiana, served as a full-time support staff person in the Middle School who monitored study halls and was a substitute teacher. He was also an MVA parent, his daughter graduated from MVA in 2014.
MVA was a second career for him as he enjoyed a distinguished career with the Miami Dade police force where he found himself involved in multiple police investigations some made famous by the “Miami Vice” TV show. Mr. Kuk also served in the Army and was active in the Air Force Reserves which he retired from as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was recalled to active duty shortly after 9/11 and was stationed for two years at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. as a member of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
“It is appropriate that we honor and pay respects to Mr. Kuk on September 11 given his commitment to serving our country,” said Dr. Kasey C. Kesselring, Headmaster. “Mr. Kuk was a dedicated, hardworking longtime friend of the Academy. Any time that we needed his assistance, Mr. Kuk was available, always bringing a positive attitude and ensuring students stayed on task. He was well liked and respected by the students as well as his peers. His presence and contributions to our school community will be missed.”
