Hurricane Dorian Update

Hurricane Dorian continues to move slowly and has been reduced to a category 2 hurricane. The wind and rain effects today have been minimal at the campus based on the slow movement up the east coast.
Classes for Wednesday, September 4 are cancelled. Tomorrow we are expected to get wind and rain throughout the day. I do not take lightly the gravity behind making these decisions around school closures. The safety of our constituents remains paramount, but I am also cognizant of the impact on our day families who may be forced into making child care provisions particularly for our lower and middle school students. While it is not anticipated that the predicted weather tomorrow will present highly dangerous conditions, it is likely that anticipated winds and rain will again make it less than ideal for students to transition from the buildings and perhaps sporadic gusts that may make road transportation undesirable.
For boarding students, we will follow a similar schedule on Wednesday as we did on Tuesday. Mr. Weaver will send a schedule to the boarding students that will begin with a brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Coaches should again seek permission from the Athletic Director to hold any voluntary attended indoor practices and rehearsals; outdoor practices will not be permitted on Wednesday.
Please be safe and we look forward to seeing everyone back on campus on Thursday!
