John Weaver Recognized with 2019 Leadership in Diversity Award
John Weaver, in his role as Director of Multicultural Program, Community Service and Student Leadership, was selected as a recipient of DiversityIS magazine’s 2019 Leadership in Diversity Award. It is the only national magazine dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion in U.S. Independent Schools.
This award is a measure of individual leaders at independent schools who encourage and support the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students and employees. Mr. Weaver was recognized for his efforts in planning service opportunities for students and faculty, recruiting employees from various ethnicities, developing leadership opportunities for students, organizing events to celebrate and honor differences among our community, and more.
In addition to his responsibilities at MVA, John and Hanna, his wife, established Titus Mentoring. The non-profit is committed to developing a community of capable, informed and responsible young adults using the guidance given by Apostle Paul in Titus 2:4-8.
“It is my life’s goal to be a voice for the marginalized and to receive this award is humbling,” said Mr. Weaver. “I believe every teen should have someone to turn to for guidance. Mentoring teens through a variety of service opportunities, character development programs, tutoring, leadership training, recreation, team-building, and more, helps them reach their full potential, be accountable and make responsible decisions that benefit our communities.”
