Middle School Students Sweep Law Day Poster Contest

We are proud to congratulate three middle school students who entered and won the Lay Day Art Poster Contest sponsored by the Lake County Bar Association. Local students in grades 4-8 were invited to enter the contest.
 
Isabella Flannigan was awarded first place, which also came with a $50 prize. Second place was awarded to Naomi Rivera, who won $25. In third place was Ava Barbey, who received $10. The students researched the theme then drew their interpretation of it. In addition, they submitted a summary of what they drew, why they drew it, and how it related to theme. Each student did an outstanding job.
 
Established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958, Law Day honors the rule of law. Held annually on May 1, Law Day provides an opportunity to understand how law and the legal process protect our liberty, strive to achieve justice, and contribute to the freedoms that all Americans share. The 2019 Law Day theme – Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society – focuses on these cornerstones of representative government and calls on us to understand and protect these rights to ensure, as the U.S. Constitution proposes, “the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity
