Student’s Work accepted into 15th Congressional District Art Competition
Congratulations to Qingyang Liu, an MVA senior, whose watercolor on paper creation, “Evolution,” has been accepted into the 2019 Creative Youth: 15th Congressional District Art Competition hosted by the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland, Florida. The exhibit features jury selected student artists from throughout the District.
The Congressional Award from this competition, chosen by 15th Congressional District Representative (who represents Polk, Lake and Hillsborough counties), travels to Washington, D.C. to be displayed in the year-long nationwide exhibition in the U.S. Capitol. This national competition is sponsored by the Congressional Arts Caucus and the office of Congressional District Representative. The 15th Congressional District competition is a cooperative planning effort between Representative Ross’ office, 15th District Public Schools and the Polk Museum of Art. The exhibition runs from March 16 to April 21 with an artist reception hosted on Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m.
“My works strive to be open in the way they communicate,” said Qingyang. “They are not passing on ideas unilaterally. They are more like a catalyst for thinking.”
“Qingyang is a wonderfully talented artist and we are thrilled she has been honored with this acceptance into the competition,” said Dean Bell, Director of the Arts.
