On Sunday, March 3, the National Honor Society performed its annual group service project at Give Kids the World. Give Kids the World is a local non-profit organization that provides resort vacations to children and families dealing with life-threatening diseases in hopes of providing a break from the challenges they face on a daily basis.
The mission statement of NHS involves helping the local community and embodying the four pillars of service, scholarship, character, and leadership, we thought this would be a great opportunity for Montverde Academy’s student leaders to help make a difference in the lives of young children in need.
The students spent the day helping out in all areas of Nancy’s Dining Hall serving breakfast, helping children get beverages, escorting children to different areas of the breakfast bar, and asking them about their day. They all had a great time volunteering to make someone else’s day a little brighter.
“This was really a great opportunity to give back to the community and help bring smiles on the faces of young children,” said Julian Kong, president of NHS.
