Three MVA Music Conservatory Students Play Carnegie Hall

Yilin "Selina" Xu, a junior and sophomores Yanbo "Frank" Guo and Mariana Valderrama Alvarez were selected by the Florida Keys International Competition for Young Talent based on their video submissions to perform as part of the Winner’s Circle Gala Concert at Carnegie Hall on November 17.
The students traveled to New York City, accompanied by Mr. Hanrich Claassen and Mrs. Mary Mincy, to perform at the esteemed Carnegie Hall. Selina, who has been playing the cello since she was 11, performed the “Francouer Sonata in E Major for cello and piano. Frank, who has been playing the piano since he was six, performed “Brahms Rhapsody in G minor, Op. 79, No. 2; and Mariana, who has been playing violin since she was 10, performed “Concerto in C major, Op. 48 for violin and piano,” by Dmitri Kabalevsky. Ms Mincy also provided piano accompaniment for the string players.
In the audition round, all three students won second prize in their respective categories. Frank and Selina also earned the first and second overall monetary prizes for their competition performances. Congratulations students!
