The Fox film crew spent a couple of hours in our weight room, filming and interviewing our coaching staff and student-athletes about the different technology they work with. A group of student-athletes representing cross-country, soccer, basketball, swimming, and baseball demonstrated the tools. Precious A., Jojo C. and Maria T. demonstrated the Vert, a performance tracker that accurately and efficiently measures vertical jumps. All seven students including Jody B., Camilo V., Lily H., and Alexa C., put the Brower Timing system, which accurately measures speed up to a thousandth of a second, through its paces with a round of sprints. They also demonstrated the effectiveness of the Keiser Performance Trainer, a versatile, air-driven cable system allows training at any angle and any speed. This piece of equipment is used daily in athletic workouts at MVA, but it is not found in most high school weight rooms.
