Elizabeth Buzbee, Senior, Receives Outstanding Student Leader Award

Congratulations Elizabeth Buzbee, a senior, who was recently selected as the first recipient of the Outstanding Student Leader Award for the 2018-19 school year by the South Lake Chamber of Commerce and Foundations for Education. She was presented with the award and $1,000 scholarship at a recent Chamber breakfast.
The Outstanding Student Award is presented monthly to local high school seniors who exhibit outstanding academic achievement, community service and involvement in school activities, clubs and athletics. Elizabeth is an outstanding student who currently has a 4.33 GPA. She is a member of National Honors Society, Science Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, Math Honors Society, and Key Club. She has also been received the Honor Council and Distinguished Scholar Award.
Beyond the classroom, Elizabeth serves as a Prefect, has played on the volleyball and basketball teams and currently manages the volleyball team. She volunteers time with St. Jude to organize and host an annual fundraising event and helps at a local animal shelter. Amidst all that she finds time to pursue her passion for film, working with fellow students at Molly Smith Productions on a variety of projects.
“I am honored to receive this award and scholarship,” said Elizabeth. “Managing school work with all of the activities and work that I do can be overwhelming and exhausting at times. I’m planning to pursue a career in the medical field and feel that I’m well prepared to take on the challenges ahead of me.”
“Elizabeth is a dedicated and driven student who has a tremendously bright future,” said Dr. Kasey C. Kesselring, Headmaster. “She is an excellent example of what Montverde Academy students are capable of achieving and we wish her continued success. I would also like to thank the Chamber of Commerce and the Foundation for Education for honoring her achievements.”
