Montverde Academy Basketball Raises $1,000 for Special Olympics

Coach Kevin Boyle, his coaching staff and 13 varsity and Center for Basketball Development players were on hand this past Saturday, September 15, to serve as mentors, offer training tips, demonstrate skills, talk about strategy on the court, and more with the more than 70 participants in a free basketball clinic held in the Nest.
The free clinic was hosted to engage kids in basketball, as Coach Boyle feels strongly about giving back to our community. While the clinic was free and open to the public, donations were encouraged and all of the funds raised benefited Special Olympics of Lake County.
“Special Olympics is an amazing organization who we are proud to support,” said Coach Boyle. “The clinic was a way to give back to our community, and get local kids excited about basketball as they interacted with our coaches and student-athletes, who served as mentors, coaching them through drills, providing pointers on how to improve their skills and encouraging them during the scrimmages. It was a really great day for everyone. We were able to raise $1,000 for Special Olympics and have some fun in the process.”
