Convocation and Ribbon Cutting Hosted to Celebrate the New School Year

Montverde Academy hosted its first Convocation to welcome the new year and celebrate the diversity of our students. Students proudly carried their native country’s flags into the Nest to applause and cheers. By the end of the procession, 91 flags were displayed which represent all of the countries that our students hold citizenship in.
The convocation was highlighted by music performed by the Montverde Academy Advanced String Orchestra and the Montverde Academy Combined Choirs. Mr. David Bernatavitz, Dean of the Upper School, welcomed the audience and Mr. Phil Prescott, Religious Studies, gave the invocation. Camilio Moreno, senior and head prefect, delivered greetings and shared his enthusiasm for what he called, ". . . our Montverde Academy community, where friends become as close as family."
During Dr. Kesselring’s address, he thanked Dr. Rath for introducing the idea of hosting a Convocation, which has provided an opportunity to gather the entire student body, staff, family members, and dignitaries together to celebrate the beginning of the school year. Time passes quickly and the Convocation gave everyone an opportunity to pause, honor the moment and celebrate the uniquely diverse community we have at Montverde Academy.
Immediately following the Convocation, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Jörn Kreke Science Building to officially open the addition that was completed this summer. The addition features two addition science fully equipped science labs for research and experimentation. Thank you to our generous individuals who gave to the project to ensure its completion.
