MVA Way Provided for New Upper School Students

Rising 9th grade students and any upper school students new to Montverde Academy participated in the MVA Way on Friday, August 17. The MVA Way is an opportunity for students to feel welcomed and get acclimated to campus before school begins. Led by MVA prefects and Headmaster Leadership Institute (HLI) students, students were placed into five groups according to their native language – either Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, or Spanish. The groups toured campus, located their classrooms, covered MVA expectations and guidelines, met teachers and staff, asked questions, and participated in some team building fun at the end of the session – all to become more at ease with the new surroundings before school officially starts.
Parents new to the upper school and Montverde Academy were also hosted to an orientation. Key faculty were introduced to visually put faces with names and help parents identify who to contact with questions regarding the variety of aspects of student life and presentations on a variety of aspects about the school provided parents with a thorough overview about MVA.
Both events were successful in building the MVA community as students and families began getting to know each other as we head into another exciting school year! Thank you to everyone who made the MVA Way so successful.
