Eight Montverde Academy students, who belong to the Mathematics Club of the Upper School, competed in the Lake-Sumter State College Mathlympics. At Mathlympics, students are asked to solve forty challenging problems within an hour. They are able to either work individually or collaboratively, with the goal of answering each question correctly first, because that is how teams earn the most points.
Our Team A consisted of "Sam" Lu, Yechen “Mike” Wang, Jack Li, and Thiago Evencio. Team B members included Yanni (Varina) Zhang, Di (Catherine) Miao, Yicheng (Catherine) Wang, and Junhui (Allen) Han. There were more than 12 schools competing which brought more than twenty teams to the competition.
Montverde Academy’s Team A took first place in earning 337 points. We are so proud of all the hard work and dedication that both teams displayed during the competition and over the course of the year. All members did a great job in representing their schools, themselves, and their families. Congratulations to the students on a job well done.
