Christopher Mitchell spent four years as a boarding student at the Academy. After graduation, he attended the University of Tampa and earned his degree in Business Management. He has stayed active with Montverde Academy since graduating in 2002, and he has served as the Alumni Association President for the previous two years. In 2015, Chris returned to campus where he is among the many alumni who are pursuing a career at the Academy. He is the Director of Development and the Montverde Fund.
Lauren Robertson came to Montverde Academy by way of England. She was a member of the swim team, and she served as the Academy's first swim team captain. She attended college at Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in psychology. Upon graduating from college, Lauren moved back to the Clermont area and is currently pursuing her law degree while working as a paralegal for Langley, Nagel & Crawford.
Dr. Jose Portela was a Varsity Baseball standout for MVA, a Judicial Committee member, and a senior Prefect during his time here. His wife Daniella (Waitt) Portela ’08 also attended and worked for MVA after graduation. Dr. Portela is now a practicing NUCCA Chiropractor and owner of Balanced Spine Center, INC. in Clermont, FL.
While at Montverde Academy Bryce was a member of the Judicial Council for three years. He received his AA from Lake Sumter State College and his BS in economics from the University of Central Florida. Following graduation he received the St. Thomas More full tuition scholarship to attend Ave Maria Law School in Naples, FL. He received his Juris Doctor in May 2014, and passed the Florida Bar Exam in August 2014, and sworn in in October 2014. He was a Certified Legal Intern for the State Attorney's Office in the 20th Judicial Circuit. He is now a general practitioner with a focus on Bankruptcy, Estate Planning, DUI Defense, and Appellate work, along with being retained by his alma matter Montverde Academy.
Jesse Meadow attended college in Tampa and during that time he remained active as an alumnus by routinely visiting Montverde Academy. Currently, he is working in our Upper School as the Assistant Dean of Students. He began his career at the Academy as an Assistant Dean of Admissions in the admission office. He resides in Montverde with his wife, Jackie, and their daughter Sophia.
Carrie Dodson Broussard was the first female to receive a Division I Athletic scholarship. The scholarship was for discus and track and field. After graduating from Montverde Academy, Carrie went on to receive her degree in physical education, and she now teaches Physical Education classes. She resides in Florida with her husband (a retired member of the Navy) and two sons, Dodson and Caelum.
Mike Mason married Amy Lambert '86, who also attended Montverde Academy. Mike and Amy own Leesburg Printing, Uniform Outfitters, and UOSports.com apparel company. They have three daughters who also attended Montverde Academy, two of which are alumni as well. Mike is on the Board of Trustees of Montverde Academy and several other local organizations.
Carl Stephens graduated from Montverde Academy as salutatorian. During his time at the Academy, he was also active in athletics - he was a starting forward on the basketball team and went to the State Championships in several track and field events. After graduating from the Academy, he attended the University of Central Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Limnology in 1988 and a Masters in Environmental Engineering in 1995. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the State of Florida. Mr. Stephens is a Senior Engineer at Ardaman & Associates in Orlando, Florida.
