As the end of the year is in sight, banquets are held to honor and celebrate the achievements of our students, student-athletes and coaches. Fine Arts, Center for Basketball Development, Soccer Institute of Montverde Academy, and the Athletic Banquets recognized the accomplishments achieved during the 2018-19 year.
Students and their family members attended to enjoy great food, provided by Table Top Catering on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Carrabba’s Italian Grill on Friday. Everyone cheered on the student-performers and student-athletes who received awards.
At the Athletic banquet, Andrew DeClercq, former NBA player, gave a great speech in which he talked about his 10-year career in the NBA and what made him so successful in that highly competitive professional arena. He emphasized that it is through dedication, hours sacrificed for the sport and attention to detail as being key elements to have when pursuing a career in professional sports – or in whatever profession that is pursued. He urged the audience to strive for excellence in everything that one does and if you do what makes you happy, you never “work” a day in your life.
Congratulations to the Jody Brown who won the Eagles Choice award; Nicole Meers who won the Purple & Gold award; and Ms. Anne Browdy won the Warren Delmolino award. Coach of the Year awards went to Brooks Sweet, boys’ lacrosse coach, and Robbie Aristodemo, girls’ soccer coach. Athletes of the Year were Jody Brown, soccer, and Justin Williams, lacrosse.
Many awards were presented at each of the banquets and we congratulate all of the award winners!
