Third Graders Grow with Bonnie Plants

Third Graders Grow with Bonnie Plants

Big congratulations to our Third Grade Cabbage Contest winner, Aubreigh Broome, whose incredible cabbage weighed in at an impressive 20 pounds and was entered into the state competition!

“It was a lot of hard work taking care of my cabbage," said Aubreigh. "The weather this winter was very hard. We had to blanket it like a baby several nights. My grandma also had to take care of it for us while we were on spring break vacation. It was fun watching it grow from a tiny little leaf and it tasted delicious!”

As part of the Bonnie Plants Cabbage Program, our third graders spent the year nurturing oversized cabbage plants while learning where food comes from and developing a love for gardening. The nationwide program inspires young gardeners by providing free cabbage plants to classrooms across the country and encouraging students to grow their very own giant cabbages!

We are so proud of all of our third graders for their hard work, patience, and green thumbs this year. And a special shoutout to Aubreigh for growing this year’s winning cabbage!
