Programming Team Wins First Place

Programming Team Wins First Place

By Mr. Matthew Parets, MVA Eagles Programming Team Coach and Upper School Computer Science Teacher

Of the 102 teams from all over the state of Florida, the MVA Eagles programming team—Leon Liu, Rishi Gandhi, and Ethan Castillo—earned first place in their division at the Lockheed Martin Code Quest Competition. The other Eagles team, consisting of Ben Chiang and Phu Reed, earned a solid score ranking at the top half of the field.

At this annual competition, students are given a variety of logic problems to solve to earn points for their team based on the level of difficulty. These events are hosted enthusiastically by industry leaders and universities who know that students who do well at programming competitions will excel in any field they pursue.

Winners earn swag, such as maker and gaming equipment, as well as top considerations for internships, college acceptances, and scholarships. For this year's Lockheed Martin Code Quest, students were given more than 20 problems to solve and three hours to develop solutions.

Congratulations to the programming team on this incredible accomplishment!
