Middle Schoolers Take on the Zombie Apocalypse!

Our Middle School students put their survival skills and their executive functioning skills to the test during advisory yesterday!

Working in teams, students had just 15 minutes to choose eight essential supplies, develop an immediate survival plan, assign roles and create a backup plan. Then came the twist… Their carefully crafted plans were put to the test with an unexpected obstacle, forcing them to adapt, rethink and revise their strategies.

From planning and prioritizing to collaboration, time management, working memory, and cognitive flexibility, students discovered that good planning isn't about making a perfect plan—it’s about knowing what to do when the plan changes. 

Hopefully, they'll never need these skills during an actual zombie apocalypse, but they'll use them every day at school and beyond!
