Exploring the Nation’s Capital

The Montverde Academy eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C. was an unforgettable experience filled with learning, exploration, and camaraderie. “I had a lot of fun on the trip and learned so much about the country’s history,” shared eighth grader Keira Bardt. Students explored a variety of museums, including the National Museum of African History and Culture, where they delved into the history, progress, and innovations of African Americans. “I enjoyed our time at the African American Museum,” said Talei Price. “We learned about incidents, progress, and innovation.”

The group also visited iconic monuments and memorials, gaining a deeper understanding of the people and events they honor. “Seeing the monuments and memorials up close really brought history to life,” added Talei. “They emphasized important people and events, by reward and remembrance. It was amazing to experience with my friends. My friends and my teachers even taught me things about the monuments and museums that I didn’t learn or realize myself.

Despite the cold winter weather, the trip left a lasting impression on the students, offering a unique blend of education and memorable moments with friends and teachers. “Washington, D.C. was the best field trip ever!” exclaimed Connor Burke. “The monuments had powerful meanings, and the museums had so many new things to learn!”
