As Head Coach of the Montverde Academy Boys Basketball Team, I have certain expectations and considerations when putting together a team that will be as successful on the court as off. My coaching reflects Luke 12:48...
"To Whom Much is Given, Much is Expected."
It is not enough to be a good player, you have to be an outstanding young man to represent the Academy and wear and MVA jersey, and the competition for the opportunity can be fierce.
My players know that playing Basketball is a blessing and not a right. As a student-athlete, you must prioritize your faith, family, academics, and athletics. The Eagles are responsible for their actions and realize that life is made of opportunities to make the right decisions and avoid bad choices. They illustrate their passion for competition. Constantly challenging themselves to grow in all areas of their life: spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually.
I look for athletes who lead by example. One who embraces excellence and strives to be a positive, enthusiastic achiever in his pursuit of reaching his potential in all areas of his life. Players who appreciate teamwork and think,
"We first"
will always be in good standing, and welcome.
Basketball at MVA is a rewarding experience, albeit a challenging one. Upon a senior's completion of their Montverde career, they will be a full NCAA Academic Qualifier, respect and embrace diversity, and appreciate the value of hard work. A member of the team will reflect on his season and recognize his strengths and weaknesses. He will be a disciplined person prepared for success in the next phase of his life, knowing whether he continues on with the sport or pursues alternatives his contribution to MVA has been a personal benefit as well. |
