George "Cherokee" Lawson 1948:
"I had the misfortune of attending the Montverde School for only two years. I envy those students who had the privilege of being there for up to six years for some, summers included. Attendance at The Montverde School did more to reinforce my self -confidence than any experience of my youth. The firm guidance of Christian adults was crucial. Dean A.R. McCauslin became my most trusted friend and mentor. I'm sure there were times when he wondered why, times when I was having difficulty with a certain male teacher and only Dean Mac's calm and forceful demeanor prevented my doing or saying something stupid. He coached me for two years in math, the only thing that got me though. I went to him in tears of frustration more than once and he calmly guided me to a solution. When a teacher wanted to expel me for smoking, Dean McCauslin would not permit it. And his chapel homilies on the parables of Jesus were the most educational bible studies I have ever experienced. I could never express fully my love for Dean McCauslin. Suffice it to say, of the six men I have most admired he is my second hero. Georgia Nichols was my English teacher in '46-'47. English was always a crip course for me so we had a firm foundation for friendship. We spent Sunday afternoon social hours discussing English literature and what makes girls act so dumb sometimes I remember that when my grandfather died she wrote to me a most touching note. Miss Nichols was my favorite lady teacher and I still think of her. It would be so easy to go on remembering; the camaraderie of working on the farm and campus, the sense of accomplishment for that work, the family in the dining hall, Saturday night movies, Sunday School taught by Karl Lehman and on and on. The Montverde School is one of the favorite memories of my youth."
Patricia (Waldron) Green 1949:
"When I arrived at Montverde I was at a crossroads in my life and so afraid of what might happen next. I shouldn't have been! I was made to feel at home and for the next four years Connecticut (where I was living at the time) was the vacation spot I went to for rest and relaxation. Montverde was home! Summer camp, field day, swimming in the lake, volleyball under lights and more only suggest some of the memories that bring a smile to my face! In four years I developed a lifetime of cherished memories. The class of 1949 was a special group of people. Last October (2004) I had a chance to go to a reunion in St. Augustine, it had been fifty-five years since I had seen any of my classmates. It was wonderful and awesome! I strongly recommend that given the opportunity everyone should attend, at least, one reunion it is worth it. Last, but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. McQuaig for the memories she gave me. I really enjoyed Glee Club and singing on the radio. Thank you Mrs. McQuaig!"

"I'm married and the proud father of three children2 little girls, Aimee 13 and Amelia 9, and one boy Justin 6 who was just diagnosed with cancerand believe it not we have one more on the way in January. Currently I live in Tampa with my family and own a party rental business "Jolly Hoppers" where we specialize in children's party rentals."

"After I graduated from Montverde Academy I went to Miami Dade Community College, dropped out after 1 year and went into aviation, by the end of 1991 I received my Commercial pilot license and I moved back to my birth place Curacao N.A. I then worked for 3 years in my brother in law's casino in the camera surveillance room, then I went to work in 1995 for my father in his Jukebox business here I learned the trade well from him, also during this time I flew briefly for an airline which went bankrupt after a year. I continued with the Jukeboxes and also started working in 1999 at an American offshore sportsbetting company. Now I am the owner of my own Jukebox company here in Curacao N.A. and I have expanded to the island of Aruba. The best moments I had at Montverde were everyday, and best times were when we took school trips, we had a lot of fun especially Grad Night at Disney. Hope to hear from you soon & best wishes Vincent Armand Haseth class of 89."
