Hard work, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork are fundamental tenets of the Montverde Academy Track and Field program. Student-athletes have the opportunity to practice and compete on a state of the art 8 lane rubberized track and to participate in events tailored to their abilities.

Challenging and varied workouts on and off the track prepare team members for a full season of home and away meets. The Annual Montverde Academy Eagle Invitational is held in March and began over 30 years ago with only a few teams but has now grown to include 15 plus teams from around central Florida.

Head Coach Sue Tortora has over 20 years of coaching experience and coaches the sprinters and field events. Assistant Coach Troy Urquhart has several years of coaching experience and trains the distance runners. Coach Urquhart is also the head coach of the cross country team and has grown the program from being nonexistent to very successful. Coach Urquhart and the distance runners can often be seen running the neighborhoods and hills of Montverde in the early morning as well as in the afternoons.
